Nature Man

For the Nature Man project we had to use all the skills we learned in Adobe Photoshop to create a better version of the original picture. He's called Nature Man because some pictures that were already provided for us in the server had to do with nature. The pictures consisted of roots, a cliff, trees and water. I restarted several times creating Nature Man because I didn't like what I had come up with. My first creation was horrible. I think I didn't like it because the only pictures I had used the ones provided and nature doesn't interest me. The second time I was going for a blue theme. The suit was going to be many different shades of blues mixed together. That didn't work out because the jacket looked too fake and it wouldn't blend very well.  For the third time the picture above is what I came up with.

After trying to go with a blue theme I changed my mind and decided to go with purple since it's my favorite color. But I knew I couldn't just have purple so I ended up with both colors. For the jacket I looked up online purple ombre background. Then I found exactly what I wanted. To make it the outline of the jacket I had to use the quick selection tool to delete what was not apart of the jacket. Continuing with the jacket I made a mask to make it blend more. I did an overlay and feathered the jacket while turning the brightness down. After I moved to the hair and used the exact same picture but included more of the blue section. For the hair I followed the same steps but changed the hue and saturation to make it almost see through to see the texture of his actual hair. Next the skin I masked it and posterized it making look like he is holographic almost. Finally for the background I used a gradient so you can see that it kind of gets darker towards the bottom of the picture.

Even though I had to restart 3 times I really enjoyed this project. It let me be really creative and free to do what I wanted to do. The end result defiantly did not turn out how I thought it was going to but I still think it's pretty cool. Now thinking about it I really didn't have a plan to start off with and I was just putting things together. The hardest part of this project was trying to work with the hair. There are little tiny hairs that wouldn't cooperate with the masks and all the layers. I also had a hard time trying to blend it with his natural hair. Overall I wouldn't change anything about this project and I had such a fun time doing it!

Procedures Video

For this project we had to create a video of procedures done around the school. My group and I chose to do a procedure over a fire drill. The first thing we had to was create a storyboard to sketch out all the shots we wanted to use. We had to use at least 6 different shots. I feel like story boarding was the hardest part of this project. Everyone had so many ideas and sometimes we couldn't agree but we eventually came up with our plan. Next we began to shoot the video and shot it over a period of 2 days. This part was very easy because we already came up with a plan but it was very time consuming. In the video you could see we went outside and if it wasn't right we would have to go through many steps to go back out again. The editing process was time consuming too. We had filmed so many different clips and I didn't know which ones I wanted to use. Eventually I figured it out and was very pleased with my video. One thing I would change would be the alarm sound. Instead o...

Printing Process

Last week in graphic design we learned about the printing process. We had to watch 3 videos about different printing process and how to do them. After we wrote blog posts about, relief, intilagio and lithography printing. But we didn't do any of those 3, instead we did transfer printing. We started by picking 2 of our favorite projects we had done so far. I picked my nature man and the panorama project. Next we watercolored 2 papers so we could transfer our projects on them. After everyone was done water coloring we mod poged the pictures. We used a squeegee to rub the mod podge across the paper so our hands didn't get messy. When the mod podge was dry we then had to rub it off to see that our picture was transfer onto the paper. To rub it off we had to wet our fingers and rub pretty hard to have the mod podge come off. When everyone was done our teacher then took them home to to add a gloss over them. Finally we hung them up in our classroom. Overall this was really fun an...
