Sidewalk Chalk Art

At first my group and I had no idea what to do. We were even kind of confused on what exactly what the project was. The first thing we did, individually, was think of symbols to represent us. A teacher gave us a great example, the Presidential Seal. The Eagle represents America, the arrow for war and the olive branch for peace. That helped us as a group to put things together and think outside the box.

For my symbol I used a ballet shoe to represent me as a dancer. For the rest of my group there were ants, an elephant, basketball, and a fleur de lis. Each one of these symbols had a meaning behind it to represent each person. To put these all together we, tried, to make it look like the word (key word tried). An example is the elephant, it takes place as Africa.

For the most part my group pretty much played it by ear. I think we thought it would turn out a little better than it did, but it could've been a lot worse. Looking back now we should've thought it out and planned it a little bit better. In all this activity was really fun and I got to learn a little bit about everyone, not just people in my group, and I would give it a 10/10!

Printing Process

Last week in graphic design we learned about the printing process. We had to watch 3 videos about different printing process and how to do them. After we wrote blog posts about, relief, intilagio and lithography printing. But we didn't do any of those 3, instead we did transfer printing. We started by picking 2 of our favorite projects we had done so far. I picked my nature man and the panorama project. Next we watercolored 2 papers so we could transfer our projects on them. After everyone was done water coloring we mod poged the pictures. We used a squeegee to rub the mod podge across the paper so our hands didn't get messy. When the mod podge was dry we then had to rub it off to see that our picture was transfer onto the paper. To rub it off we had to wet our fingers and rub pretty hard to have the mod podge come off. When everyone was done our teacher then took them home to to add a gloss over them. Finally we hung them up in our classroom. Overall this was really fun an...

Vector

For this project we had to choose a portrait of a family member, pet or our self and recreate it in Adobe Illustrator. After choosing the picture we wanted we had to put it in Adobe Photoshop first. We cropped the image and posterized it to whatever number you wanted. We had to posterize it to see the different highlights and shadows on our picture.      The hardest part about this project was trying to differentiate all the shadows and highlights on the body. I only did the ones that seemed the most important to me. I decided to really simplify my vector down because tracing every different thing looked weird to me. I think my favorite part about my vector is the eyebrows, eyes and the raven on the front of the outfit. Those really turned out great. Overall I think this is one of my favorite projects so far in graphic design. After finishing this one I wanted to create another vector right away. Just watching it all come together was really co...

Semester 2- Graphic Design

This semester in graphic design has been filled with many fun and creative projects. One of my favorites was the vector project. While working in Adobe Illustrator we had to recreate a picture of us using the pen tool to create different shapes and colors. This project took about 2 weeks to complete. The first thing we had to do was find a picture, then vectorize it in Adobe Photoshop to see all the different color to create the finished project. This project was not that hard just very time consuming. At first I didn't know where to start on the but once I did it was pretty easy. My vector isn't very detailed like others but ended up still being good.  My second favorite project, is the most recent, the name logo. I really liked this one because I had the freedom to do whatever I wanted. At first we had to sketch at least 30 different designs just to get us started. Then we chose our top 5 that we liked. After we traced all 5 into Adobe Illustrator it was now time fo...
