Video Final

News Story        For this project we had to create a story about someone in our class that is involved with something that is connected to ONW. My team and I chose Drew who was on the Raven Pride Marching Band. This project took about 3 weeks to complete. The most challenging part about this project was Drew's interview. We had to reschedule about 3 times because we couldn't get the mic to work. The third time we shot the interview, with Drew, we didn't get to use a mic because they were all taken. After showing the video to the class I received some good feedback. I needed to turn up the volume on some parts and make sure to adjust the rule of thirds on some clips. Some positive feedback I received was the b roll was pretty good. This project was really fun and this is why I decided to share it for my semester final. ONW NOW      For our final semester project the sophomores in video had to make our own version of ONW NOW. Out of all the projects this w

ONW Now

For our final project this semester we had the opportunity to film a sophomore edition of ONW Now. The first thing we had to do was decide for ourselves what segment we wanted to make a story over. We could chose between sports, news, feature story, word from the halls and even decide to be an anchor. I chose to do a sports story and to be an anchor and that's what I ended up getting. After we got our jobs we finally got our teams. I was with Josh Burton, Molly Weir, Ethan Goss, and Logan Read. Out of this whole year this was the best team I worked with. Since we were assigned sports at first we were going to do it over boys basketball but couldn't because they were in a tournament and no one could make it to their games. Then we decided on girls basketball. Josh, Ethan, and I did interviews while Logan did the voice over and helped Molly edit. Josh also went to one of the girls practices and then Molly went to one of their games. While all the teams were still finishing thei

Graphic Design Final

Infographic This infographic was the one of the last projects we had to do this semester. We had to chose a topic and create an informational poster over it. The infographic had to include research we had found and graphics we made. A big challenge for me was, in the beginning, I didn't understand how to use the pen tool. I thought it was very confusing and hard to work with. Eventually I figured it out and used it to mostly trace graphics. Another hard part was creating the world. The green part of the world is the bast then everything else is just a layer on top of it. I had a hard time getting the edges to match up but did as best I could. For the final result it looks a little different from my final sketch up. At first I had to the words inside the earth but when I tried to do that on the computer It didn't look the way I wanted it to. So then I put it at the bottom cause I had a lot of empty space. Overall I feel like my infographic turned out well. I used my time ap

Written News Story

Here we have Olathe Northwest’s, Raven Dance Team, who are preparing for their competition season. RDT (raven dance team) goes to 2 regionals in January and 1  nationals in February. For regionals they compete 4 dances against other, local, high school dance teams. On the other hand nationals is a much bigger deal. The team travels to Orlando, Florida to compete 3 out of 4 dances against teams all over the world. As of now the Raven Dance Team has 11 national titles and 2 grand championships. They continue to strive for more as the years go on. To write the news story above first I had to watch a couple videos on how to write a news story. I chose to write about the Raven Dance Team because I know a lot about them and can give lots of information. My favorite thing about writing a news story was I got to chose the subject and write this on my own. I didn't have to follow anyone else's rules. I need to work on giving more details and expanding on the subject.

Advanced Feature Story

https://youtu.be/JgqRJiUuWbs This project we were challenged to do another feature story and improve from the last one. My group and I decided to make our story about a foreign exchange student, Louis Lambert. Louis is a member of the international club, played soccer for the school and will tryout later this spring for tennis. On one of the first days for this project my team came up with questions. This part was so easy because there was just so much we wanted to ask him. In the end we had about 30 or so questions. The hard part was trying to find a part to film and work around everyone's schedule. We ended up filming Louis during 7th hour but it was hard to find b-roll. For b-roll we just used stock footage of things from France and pictures and videos from his Instagram. This project was very hard to edit because we had so much to talk about but not enough footage. Overall the project was pretty hard because my team didn't communicate very well and nothing really got don

Procedures Video

For this project we had to create a video of procedures done around the school. My group and I chose to do a procedure over a fire drill. The first thing we had to was create a storyboard to sketch out all the shots we wanted to use. We had to use at least 6 different shots. I feel like story boarding was the hardest part of this project. Everyone had so many ideas and sometimes we couldn't agree but we eventually came up with our plan. Next we began to shoot the video and shot it over a period of 2 days. This part was very easy because we already came up with a plan but it was very time consuming. In the video you could see we went outside and if it wasn't right we would have to go through many steps to go back out again. The editing process was time consuming too. We had filmed so many different clips and I didn't know which ones I wanted to use. Eventually I figured it out and was very pleased with my video. One thing I would change would be the alarm sound. Instead o

D.C. Panorama

The summer of 2018 I traveled to Washington D.C. The trip was for members of the Raven Dance team and the Raven Pride Band. All of us met in the auditorium at 7, on the last day of school, and loaded up the buses. We traveled by charter buses and it took about 21 hours to get there. After I while I got sick and tired of being trapped on the bus, with so many people, but looking back it was kind of fun. The JV dance team was able to bond and I met a lot members in the band that I didn't know before. First thing we did after arriving in D.C. was bowling. The middle picture on the top was actually right before we went bowling. There's a river that we had to walk over and I thought it was really pretty.  Over the next few days we just went to a bunch of different monuments. My favorite monuments are in the panorama above. The real reason the band and dance team went to D.C. was to march in the memorial day parade. I was very nervous and excited at the same time. Both of us
