Graphic Design Final

Infographic

This infographic was the one of the last projects we had to do this semester. We had to chose a topic and create an informational poster over it. The infographic had to include research we had found and graphics we made. A big challenge for me was, in the beginning, I didn't understand how to use the pen tool. I thought it was very confusing and hard to work with. Eventually I figured it out and used it to mostly trace graphics. Another hard part was creating the world. The green part of the world is the bast then everything else is just a layer on top of it. I had a hard time getting the edges to match up but did as best I could. For the final result it looks a little different from my final sketch up. At first I had to the words inside the earth but when I tried to do that on the computer It didn't look the way I wanted it to. So then I put it at the bottom cause I had a lot of empty space. Overall I feel like my infographic turned out well. I used my time appropriately and met deadlines. I would have to say this one is also my favorite because I got to do mostly what I wanted to do.

Panorama

The panorama project was another favorite of mine. We had to chose 10 pictures that we took and put them together in a panorama. I chose pictures from when I went to Washington D.C. this summer. This project took about a week to complete. I restarted many times because it was hard to blend things together in the order I wanted. In fact that was the hard part about this project. Since I made my pictures black and white blending was hard because some pictures are lighter than others. Some feedback that my teacher gave me was to try making the opacities different to make it easier and it worked. One example is in the top right hand corner there are building but on top of that is a memorial dedicated to one of our former presidents. Overall I liked doing this project. I tend to like projects that I have more control over and get to express my own ideas. The panorama didn't take as long as previous projects had but this was pretty lengthy just because I started over.

Fall leaves

This project we had to read a tutorial to learn the basics of using Adobe Illustrator. While learning how to use the software we made fall leaves. The fall leaves didn't take me that long to make. It took about 5 class periods. The hard part about this project was trying to create the maple leaf. I had to redo it several times because it would end up in a weird shape or ungrouped. That was what frustrated me the most about this project. I learned how to translate things, how to make things rigid and weird shapes. When I turned this in I didn't end up changing it because I thought it turned out pretty good. I don't usually redo things when we watch a tutorial over it. Overall I thought making the fall leaves was really fun and easy. It really prepared me for the other things we had to make in Illustrator.

Summary

My favorite thing about this semester was learning how to create many different things. One thing out  of this semester one thing I would change is my time management skills. I need to prioritize my projects and stop talking as much in class. This is a goal I will definitely be working on next year.

Bounce

Overview  In this project we were to create 3 different animations. The first one was just a red ball jumping up and down, then the second was a ball bouncing across the canvas. Then last the last one could be whatever we wanted with a surprise emding. How to do it First we had to make a background for the project then make many copies of a ball and make it bounce. We used the command, option-drag key a lot to copy items. Once we copied the balls we had to move them around to make it look as if they were bouncing. Next we created the animation and we had to go frame by frame until thr animation was complete. Conclusin I think this project was very successful and fun to do. If I did it again I would pay more attention on frames and come up with a better surprise animation.

Semester 2- Graphic Design

This semester in graphic design has been filled with many fun and creative projects. One of my favorites was the vector project. While working in Adobe Illustrator we had to recreate a picture of us using the pen tool to create different shapes and colors. This project took about 2 weeks to complete. The first thing we had to do was find a picture, then vectorize it in Adobe Photoshop to see all the different color to create the finished project. This project was not that hard just very time consuming. At first I didn't know where to start on the but once I did it was pretty easy. My vector isn't very detailed like others but ended up still being good.  My second favorite project, is the most recent, the name logo. I really liked this one because I had the freedom to do whatever I wanted. At first we had to sketch at least 30 different designs just to get us started. Then we chose our top 5 that we liked. After we traced all 5 into Adobe Illustrator it was now time fo...

Vector

For this project we had to choose a portrait of a family member, pet or our self and recreate it in Adobe Illustrator. After choosing the picture we wanted we had to put it in Adobe Photoshop first. We cropped the image and posterized it to whatever number you wanted. We had to posterize it to see the different highlights and shadows on our picture.      The hardest part about this project was trying to differentiate all the shadows and highlights on the body. I only did the ones that seemed the most important to me. I decided to really simplify my vector down because tracing every different thing looked weird to me. I think my favorite part about my vector is the eyebrows, eyes and the raven on the front of the outfit. Those really turned out great. Overall I think this is one of my favorite projects so far in graphic design. After finishing this one I wanted to create another vector right away. Just watching it all come together was really co...
