Logo Project

For this project we were given the task to create a logo. We were supposed to create one as if it was used for a company, so professional like. To make a logo you had to keep in mind that this logo could go on a vehicle, billboard, storefront etc. The process was very long and hard and made me realize what graphic designers have to go through.

My very first sketches were on graphing paper and turned out to look nothing like my final logo. I was just drawing stuff to see what I would like. I have no artistic ability and this was very hard. Sometimes the logo was too simple or too intricate to do on Adobe Illustrator. I also took in my friends opinions on what they liked and what they didn't. Mr. Olson also gave us examples of his own logo process and how many different designs he originally had and how it changed drastically throughout. After the first set of sketches we had to choose at least the three we liked and put on a separate piece of paper and discuss them with Mr. Olson.

He gave me a lot of great feedback that I took in to consideration. This is also where I changed my design a little. In the third box I wanted my first name to replace the vertical line of the B. Mr. Olson thought it was a good idea and also gave me some more advice on how to do it. I didn't know how I was going to do it but it turned out pretty good.

Here is where I went to Adobe Illustrator and created my logo. Since I had a good idea of what I wanted I didn't have to do the many other logos I came up with. I also used the new skills I learned to create my logo. It was hard to cut out the vertical part of the B because I had to go through many different fonts to see which one would work. Eventually I found one and it was, Orator Std Medium. After I found the font I put a masking clip over the vertical line in the B and replaced it with my name. Next I had to size my name just right to replace the part I took out. I had to keep zooming in and out to see if it looked right and eventually I got it.

This is where I chose the color scheme. I wanted to see what it would look like with it just one color then 2 different colors and etc. I wasn't really interested in the B being a bold color so I just made it grey. Next I went through several different colors for my name. I also asked for my friends opinions on what worked well and what didn't. Eventually I found the right  color scheme and I knew it was perfect.

In the end this project was hard but fun at the same time. It made me see what a graphic designer has to go through just to make a logo.

Semester 2- Video

Music Video      My group decided to recreate High School Musical 2's, Bet On It, music video. The first thing we decided on was who was playing Troy in the music video. We had a perfect match and it was one of our own team members, Alex Pauli. After pre-production we were ready to film. The filming process was a little hard. My group wasn't very smart for choosing a music video set outdoors in the summer time when it was the middle of January and February. My main role in the filming process was teaching Alex the dance moves and helping with certain shots in the video. The shots for this video were not that difficult. Most of them were regular shots we could shoot on a tripod but sometimes we had to hold it to pan with Alex. Overall I thought this project was really fun. The team that I was with worked well together and we had some fun while creating this music video. If I were to do this again I would pick a different music video just because of the weather. Even th...

Video Final

News Story        For this project we had to create a story about someone in our class that is involved with something that is connected to ONW. My team and I chose Drew who was on the Raven Pride Marching Band. This project took about 3 weeks to complete. The most challenging part about this project was Drew's interview. We had to reschedule about 3 times because we couldn't get the mic to work. The third time we shot the interview, with Drew, we didn't get to use a mic because they were all taken. After showing the video to the class I received some good feedback. I needed to turn up the volume on some parts and make sure to adjust the rule of thirds on some clips. Some positive feedback I received was the b roll was pretty good. This project was really fun and this is why I decided to share it for my semester final. ONW NOW      For our final semester project the sophomores in video had to make our own version of ONW NOW. Out of a...

Vector

For this project we had to choose a portrait of a family member, pet or our self and recreate it in Adobe Illustrator. After choosing the picture we wanted we had to put it in Adobe Photoshop first. We cropped the image and posterized it to whatever number you wanted. We had to posterize it to see the different highlights and shadows on our picture.      The hardest part about this project was trying to differentiate all the shadows and highlights on the body. I only did the ones that seemed the most important to me. I decided to really simplify my vector down because tracing every different thing looked weird to me. I think my favorite part about my vector is the eyebrows, eyes and the raven on the front of the outfit. Those really turned out great. Overall I think this is one of my favorite projects so far in graphic design. After finishing this one I wanted to create another vector right away. Just watching it all come together was really co...
