Typography Project

Overview

In this project, we were supposed to create our name to show different terms of typography by using Adobe Illustrator. Before we started, we were given some basic knowledge about typography. This included different fonts, and parts of letters. We then used what we knew about Adobe Illustrator to create a name line to show our knowledge in typography. This project once again I believe was a very good stepping stone in my knowledge and I think it will be very useful in the future.

What I learned

We started off by writing our names and sizing it to our liking, and then making three different lines to represent the height of the different parts of the letters. We used two solid red lines and one dashed red line, to go in the middle of the other two. Then we labeled different parts of our name with words and arrows. For this part of the project I used the Option-Drag skill to copy the arrows and labels and change them to what they needed to be. We had to label at least 10 parts of our name with 10 different typography terms and then saved it all to have the it look like this down below.

Conclusion

I believe this project went well considering I am still getting used to knowing how to use new skills and different programs. I learned a lot of new things and I notice a lot of things too that I haven’t before. I also believe that my project turned our great.

Printing Process

Last week in graphic design we learned about the printing process. We had to watch 3 videos about different printing process and how to do them. After we wrote blog posts about, relief, intilagio and lithography printing. But we didn't do any of those 3, instead we did transfer printing. We started by picking 2 of our favorite projects we had done so far. I picked my nature man and the panorama project. Next we watercolored 2 papers so we could transfer our projects on them. After everyone was done water coloring we mod poged the pictures. We used a squeegee to rub the mod podge across the paper so our hands didn't get messy. When the mod podge was dry we then had to rub it off to see that our picture was transfer onto the paper. To rub it off we had to wet our fingers and rub pretty hard to have the mod podge come off. When everyone was done our teacher then took them home to to add a gloss over them. Finally we hung them up in our classroom. Overall this was really fun an...

Vector

For this project we had to choose a portrait of a family member, pet or our self and recreate it in Adobe Illustrator. After choosing the picture we wanted we had to put it in Adobe Photoshop first. We cropped the image and posterized it to whatever number you wanted. We had to posterize it to see the different highlights and shadows on our picture.      The hardest part about this project was trying to differentiate all the shadows and highlights on the body. I only did the ones that seemed the most important to me. I decided to really simplify my vector down because tracing every different thing looked weird to me. I think my favorite part about my vector is the eyebrows, eyes and the raven on the front of the outfit. Those really turned out great. Overall I think this is one of my favorite projects so far in graphic design. After finishing this one I wanted to create another vector right away. Just watching it all come together was really co...

Nature Man

For the Nature Man project we had to use all the skills we learned in Adobe Photoshop to create a better version of the original picture. He's called Nature Man because some pictures that were already provided for us in the server had to do with nature. The pictures consisted of roots, a cliff, trees and water. I restarted several times creating Nature Man because I didn't like what I had come up with. My first creation was horrible. I think I didn't like it because the only pictures I had used the ones provided and nature doesn't interest me. The second time I was going for a blue theme. The suit was going to be many different shades of blues mixed together. That didn't work out because the jacket looked too fake and it wouldn't blend very well.  For the third time the picture above is what I came up with.    After trying to go with a blue theme I changed my mind and decided to go with purple since it's my favorite color. But I knew I couldn...
