4th Quarter Reflection

For this project, we started off by creating a fake product. Once we had done this, we had to create other aspects to help advertise this product. So, after we had decided our product, we started on the actual graphics that would help to sell it. The graphics we were required to make included a 3D representation of our product, two web banners, a commercial, a logo and other graphic design images, and a website. All of these served a slightly different purpose in our advertising, but they were all important. This project definitely had its ups and downs for our groups, so we had to improvise our ideas a little bit. Our group worked very well to complete our own work on time, so then we could help our teammates later on if they needed it. This is what I believe made our team so successful; we were not afraid to share our ideas and help one another.  Finally, after about two months of working on this project with many ups and downs, our group was finally ready to pitch our product. I was extremely happy with how our project turned out, and I am very proud of our work.

For this project, we had to complete everything during class. This included our 3D and 2D animations, commercial, website, and graphic design aspects. So, this was a very big project that required a lot of work from all of us. I think the team aspect of this project definitely helped to motivate us during class, since we didn't want to let our other team members down. Also, to make our project even better, our group did a good job of giving good critiques to the other people in our group, so our project could be even better. As a whole, I think our group did a very good job of using our time wisely so we could complete our project.

I have definitely learned a lot in all of the different strands this year. However, I am definitely better at some parts as compared to others. For this project, I believe my strengths were the graphic designs and video. I probably could have improved some things, but as a whole I was very happy with it. I was also pretty pleased with what I did for video. I think I have really improved with my video editing this year, along with setting up good transitions and cuts that help the video to flow. I'm sure I will only continue to improve with both of these with hard work in the future. I was definitely not the best at some parts of the project. For example, I think I could improve my website skills, and try to get more creative with it. However, the main strand that I need to improve on based on this project was animation. Overall, I will definitely try to improve on these aspects later on so I can create even better projects.

As a whole, this was a very fun project to work on. It was very nice having the freedom to do all of these different parts of the project on our own. I also really enjoyed working with my team throughout the quarter to create this project. There are a few things I might have tried to change if we were to do this project again, but overall I am very happy with what we created. If I were to take away one thing from this project, it would probably be the team aspect. Our group did a great job of sharing our ideas, and helping each other, so I hope I can bring that with me for the rest of my e-Comm career. If I were to set one other goal after this project, it would probably just be to continue to work hard in class so I can continue improving as a student and designer. Overall, I really enjoyed working on this project and I think it was a great way to end my first year in e-Comm.

Semester 2- Video

Music Video      My group decided to recreate High School Musical 2's, Bet On It, music video. The first thing we decided on was who was playing Troy in the music video. We had a perfect match and it was one of our own team members, Alex Pauli. After pre-production we were ready to film. The filming process was a little hard. My group wasn't very smart for choosing a music video set outdoors in the summer time when it was the middle of January and February. My main role in the filming process was teaching Alex the dance moves and helping with certain shots in the video. The shots for this video were not that difficult. Most of them were regular shots we could shoot on a tripod but sometimes we had to hold it to pan with Alex. Overall I thought this project was really fun. The team that I was with worked well together and we had some fun while creating this music video. If I were to do this again I would pick a different music video just because of the weather. Even th...

Video Final

News Story        For this project we had to create a story about someone in our class that is involved with something that is connected to ONW. My team and I chose Drew who was on the Raven Pride Marching Band. This project took about 3 weeks to complete. The most challenging part about this project was Drew's interview. We had to reschedule about 3 times because we couldn't get the mic to work. The third time we shot the interview, with Drew, we didn't get to use a mic because they were all taken. After showing the video to the class I received some good feedback. I needed to turn up the volume on some parts and make sure to adjust the rule of thirds on some clips. Some positive feedback I received was the b roll was pretty good. This project was really fun and this is why I decided to share it for my semester final. ONW NOW      For our final semester project the sophomores in video had to make our own version of ONW NOW. Out of a...

Vector

For this project we had to choose a portrait of a family member, pet or our self and recreate it in Adobe Illustrator. After choosing the picture we wanted we had to put it in Adobe Photoshop first. We cropped the image and posterized it to whatever number you wanted. We had to posterize it to see the different highlights and shadows on our picture.      The hardest part about this project was trying to differentiate all the shadows and highlights on the body. I only did the ones that seemed the most important to me. I decided to really simplify my vector down because tracing every different thing looked weird to me. I think my favorite part about my vector is the eyebrows, eyes and the raven on the front of the outfit. Those really turned out great. Overall I think this is one of my favorite projects so far in graphic design. After finishing this one I wanted to create another vector right away. Just watching it all come together was really co...
