Printing Processes

Relief printing is the process of cutting away at a surface in order to create an image from the raises area. This process began in hand printing and is very popular because materials are cheap and easy to get.

1. Tone block with an Indian ink wash or a wash of a black film
2. Transfer paper with the help of iron ioxide
3. Use wood cutting tools to cut image onto block
4. Roll ink over the block
5. Put on press and inl transfer to paper

Intaglio printing process is the process in which am image is carved below the flat surface of a printing plate.

1. Polish and clean plate
2. Etch the plate
3. Rinse plate for 15 minutes
4. Wipe and remove excess ink
5. Cover with damp paper
6. Run through press at high temperature

Lithography printing is the process of using oil and water.

1. Apply small amount of rosin om image for sketching
2. Apply gum arabic to the stone for the non-image area
3. Apply acidified gum arabic
4. Use cheesecloth to buff in easily
5. Wash drawing with lithotine and replace with asphalltum
6. Sponge surface and apply ink
7. Print on damp paper

Semester 2- Video

Music Video My group decided to recreate High School Musical 2's, Bet On It, music video. The first thing we decided on was who was playing Troy in the music video. We had a perfect match and it was one of our own team members, Alex Pauli. After pre-production we were ready to film. The filming process was a little hard. My group wasn't very smart for choosing a music video set outdoors in the summer time when it was the middle of January and February. My main role in the filming process was teaching Alex the dance moves and helping with certain shots in the video. The shots for this video were not that difficult. Most of them were regular shots we could shoot on a tripod but sometimes we had to hold it to pan with Alex. Overall I thought this project was really fun. The team that I was with worked well together and we had some fun while creating this music video. If I were to do this again I would pick a different music video just because of the weather. Nature Man

For the Nature Man project we had to use all the skills we learned in Adobe Photoshop to create a better version of the original picture. He's called Nature Man because some pictures that were already provided for us in the server had to do with nature. The pictures consisted of roots, a cliff, trees and water. I restarted several times creating Nature Man because I didn't like what I had come up with. My first creation was horrible. I think I didn't like it because the only pictures I had used the ones provided and nature doesn't interest me. The second time I was going for a blue theme. The suit was going to be many different shades of blues mixed together. That didn't work out because the jacket looked too fake and it wouldn't blend very well. For the third time the picture above is what I came up with. After trying to go with a blue theme I changed my mind and decided to go with purple since it's my favorite color. But I knew I couldn...

Procedures Video

For this project we had to create a video of procedures done around the school. My group and I chose to do a procedure over a fire drill. The first thing we had to was create a storyboard to sketch out all the shots we wanted to use. We had to use at least 6 different shots. I feel like story boarding was the hardest part of this project. Everyone had so many ideas and sometimes we couldn't agree but we eventually came up with our plan. Next we began to shoot the video and shot it over a period of 2 days. This part was very easy because we already came up with a plan but it was very time consuming. In the video you could see we went outside and if it wasn't right we would have to go through many steps to go back out again. The editing process was time consuming too. We had filmed so many different clips and I didn't know which ones I wanted to use. Eventually I figured it out and was very pleased with my video. One thing I would change would be the alarm sound.
